Summer appeal
This appeal was designed to show the donor the impact they’re making. To bring this to life we created six different impact postcards, telling the stories of people in Türkiye, Syria, Morocco, Cameroon, Somalia and Gaza, as well as a card featuring more general information. These impact postcards were matched with the donor’s giving history, with each donor getting at least two. The results were excellent: doubling the target income.
Welcome pack
The most important thing to do in the crucial transition from one-off cash giver to enthusiastic donor is make a connection between the giver and the people they're helping. That's why this welcome pack was all about helping that one-off giver 'read, see and hear' the difference they're already making to people around the world.

Making them feel like a vital part of the ShelterBox team, we gave them snippets of many different stories and aspects of the charity's work, with QR codes to lead them to audio/visual content. For instance, they could 'meet' Nurgül for a coffee in her tent in Turkey, hear directly from Ebrahim in Yemen, or see a demonstration from Shelter Box HQ of how the water purification unit can turn dirty water into clean water in a matter of seconds.
Urgent appeal
This appeal tells the story of Hawa. She's one of 800,000 refugees fleeing violence in Sudan who urgently need shelter. A
one-page letter opens out to tell the story of Hawa's flight from Sudan into neighbouring Chad. This is followed by the donation form.

To drive response, the pack also includes a stop press highlighting the impact of the recent aid cuts in the UK on struggling communities.

Christmas appeal
At its heart is the story of Thiri in Myanmar, who gave birth on the day of a 7.7 earthquake, and had to flee the hospital just moments afterwards. The outer leads with Thiri’s powerful quote – ‘An earthquake struck while the nurses were showing my baby to me. I was terrified for my new boy’ – as well as clearly outlining the call to action.

The letter tells Thiri’s story, and shows how ShelterBox helped communities in Myanmar, providing iron roofs and fixings to help families repair their homes, as well as solar lights and kitchen sets.

The lift piece opens up to feature stories from Ethiopia and Somalia, demonstrating how the donor can change lives by giving shelter to families dealing with disasters such as flooding and conflict.

Throughout, the pack celebrates Christmas, as a time of family and home, as the perfect time to share the gift of shelter to families around the world.
Cold acquisition
The proposition to help people on the frontline of disaster had already been carefully tested by the charity. It was threaded throughout with different case studies from different countries, alongside specific examples of ShelterBox aid, from family tents and mosquito nets to water filters.
Gift Aid appeal
The power of a single number. Celebrating 25 years of the ShelterBox by adding 25% to your gift.
International Women's Day appeal
Did you know that three out of four refugees in the world are women and their children?

This appeal leads with the story of Aicha, who was forced to leave her home in Sudan. In the last three years, violence has driven a million people to make the hazardous journey to Eastern Chad – and as many as 782,000 are women like Aicha and their children.

When women and girls lose their home, they often have to sleep in crowded refugee camps or in the open air. This makes them particularly vulnerable to exploitation and violence.
.
As with all ShelterBox appeals, we showcase the practical solutions, from family tents to hygiene kits, as well as solar lights that alert women and girls to dangers at night-time. We also included a postcard for people to display at home, pin on a noticeboard or mail to a friend.
Legacy appeal
This appeal shares the story of Peter, an amazing supporter who left a gift in his Will to help families recover after disaster.

The letter links Peter’s generous gift with another family across the world: “Thanks to gifts in Wills helping to fund a ShelterBox project in Cameroon, people like Aboubaka who’ve fled horrendous violence in neighbouring Nigeria now have shelter and safety."

The appeal also contains more information about Aboubaka, making this very much a family-to-family proposition, and stressing common humanity and shared values.

There’s also an opportunity for the supporter to share their own wishes and thoughts about the importance of home in their life.
Event fundraising appeal
We had a lot of fun working on Tea in a Tent, helping ShelterBox launch this brand new fundraising product targeting Rotary and other community groups.

Honouring ShelterBox's Cornish heritage, we caused scenes of uproar throughout Cornwall and Devon by provoking thoughts on the much vexed 'Jam or cream first?' debate as one of our fun conversation starters.
